KFC Releasing Fried Chicken and Donut Sandwich Nationwide
There's a sweet new entry in the ongoing chicken sandwich wars.
KFC is turning the battle on its head by combining the savory goodness of fried poultry with the glazed deliciousness of fried dough and launching their Kentucky Fried Chicken and Donuts sandwich across the country.
The fried chicken and donut combo will be available nationwide on February 24 https://t.co/JExjmFAG92- Eater (@Eater) February 21, 2020
After test marketing the menu it - which consists of a battered chicken cutlet between two warm glazed donuts - to the lucky residents of Virginia and Pennsylvania last year, the chain is now rolling it out nationwide beginning February 24th.
"Chicken & Donuts is the newest fried chicken trend we're bringing to all of America," the company said in a statement. "Only a donut that's glazed-to-order and served piping hot every single time can stand next to our hand-breaded fried chicken."
And just in case you are questioning the sandwich's taste, KFC assured fans of what they could expect by altering their famous tagline.
"It's a finger lickin' good dish filled with glaze and glory," the company added.
Customers will actually have two ways to take advantage of the chicken and donuts combo. In addition to the sandwich, hungry fans can choose to get a basket of tenders or a bone-in chicken with a donut or two on the side.
The meals range in price from $5.49 to $7.99 and will be available until March 16th, while supplies last.
Residents in Southern California will be afforded an extra treat by hitting up a one-day pop-up shop in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 23rd from 10am - 3pm.
While only Kentucky Fried Chicken and Donuts will be served, the first 50 people to line-up will also get a free Colonel's Dozen consisting of six tenders and six donuts.
Your move, Popeyes!
